Beachly Steel Structures

Owners: Gene and Vickie Beachly

Location: 107 Dogwood, Halltown, Mo.

Company History: With 10 years previous experience working for other companies in the steel and metal building business, primarily in Oklahoma, Gene struck out on his own in 1996, opening Beachly Steel Structures in Halltown, Mo. Since then, the Beachlys have constructed a metal building of their own to house their growing company, which now employs 11 to 12 full-time workers.

Products and Services:
Beachly Steel Structures manufactures and constructs steel buildings from raw materials, distributes siding for three steel siding suppliers and sells siding, insulation, doors and hardware — all the components needed in one of the buildings — to the public. Beachly builds garages, carports, mini storage buildings, RV and patio covers, decks, patio rooms, shops, steel roofs and general purpose buildings.

What is the biggest challenge with the company?
“Our biggest challenge right now is the rising costs of materials — and gas,” Gene said. Although the company used to provide free delivery, it now has to charge $250 to $500 to cover the increased cost of fuel.

How do you stay ahead of the competition?
“Dozens of companies around here sell pole barns, but most of those have wood in them,” Gene said. “Ours being all metal gives us an edge.”

Do you have a business philosophy?
“We do what we say we’re going to do,” Gene said. “We’re very hands-on.”
“We’re right there for them,” said Vickie. “We treat them like we want to be treated.”
