Company History: Sam's Swine and Poultry began having growing pains and needed to purchase a retail store front in order to be convenient to its customers. In April of 2004 the longtime Lincoln landmark Carrington's Lumber and Hardware became available, so the family decided to combine the two businesses and purchased Carrington's. They renamed the facility Double J. Joanie became the store manager while Sam continued to service farm calls for commercial growers.
Biggest Challenge: Keeping up with changing times. Many parts and supplies that used to be readily available are now either unavailable or uneconomic to purchase. Sometimes customers don't understand this problem. Since Double J focuses on customer satisfaction, they do the best they can. Joanie said, “God has really blessed us with a great staff. Everyone does their best to make customer satisfaction a priority.”
Products and Services: In addition to lumber and hardware, Double J is a Husqvarna service and warranty dealer selling and repairing all Husqvarna power equipment, such as chainsaws, mowers and pressure washers. Commercial poultry growers are able to purchase routine supplies or replacement parts and have access to on-farm plumbing and electrical service. A mechanic is on duty for any brand of small engine service and repair. Nutrena feeds and minerals along with lawn and garden supplies make this a well rounded business with something for everyone's farm and home.
Other Services: The Hannah family is the moving force behind the Shooting Sports 4-H club in Prairie Grove, Ark. They enjoy providing a safe, supervised environment for young people to learn competition shooting. Through fundraising endeavors, the club has been able to purchase enough firearms so that many families may participate without bearing the economic burden of the sport.
