Eye on Agribuisness
Ozarks Ag Equipment &
Watson Welding & Pipe
Owner: Bill Watson
Location: Hwy. 5 and FR. 403 Ava, Mo.
Company History: “I’ve been here 10 years as Watson Welding and Pipe. I picked up the tractors in Dec. 2007. There was a local tractor company that sold Mahindra tractors and I’d bought four from them. They closed their doors and went out of business, and I thought the Mahindras were good products and fit the area, so I decided to pick up the dealership.”
Products and Services: “With Watson Welding and Pipe we have fencing materials, corner posts, rail pipe, we started off there and then went into sheet metal, angle iron and structural steel. We have a fabrication shop where we build anything and everything. We do a lot of agricultural-related repair and fabrication. On the tractors we carry Mahindra, and we’re increasing our line of tractor parts; we supply parts for any make or model that you can buy without being a dealership. We work on tractors and we have a good mechanic on hand. He works on all makes and models. I also like to sell the Mahindra equipment: brush hogs, bale spikes, pilot forks, box blades, landscape rakes.”
How do you stay ahead of the competition?
“We try to give a fair, decent price on everything, and we offer good customer service. We try to treat everybody like they’re someone special.”
What's in the future for your business?
“My main goal is to keep gathering more parts. I want to keep growing, stay on a steady pace, keep adding to our inventory and meet and make new customers.”
