101 Livestock Auction

Owners:  John Knight
Location:  I-40, Exit 101, 7 miles west of Morrilton, Ark.

Company History:  “I purchased the business in March of 2008 from John Paul Jones and family. Due to illness, he needed to sell the barn so he could concentrate on recovery,” John explained. “John Paul is now doing well and he’s back working at the barn. John Paul started the barn in August of 2004 and it has continued to grow over the years,” stated John Knight, owner of 101 Livestock Auction.

What services do you provide?
"101 Livestock Auction offers a variety of services. We can transport cattle, goats or equine to the sale for customers, and after the sale we can deliver the livestock to the buyers. We accept livestock seven days a week and we have feed available.  We also provide current market information to customers who call needing the information to make a sell or hold decision. Our customers really like the fact that we have an on-staff vet. Many of our customers purchase livestock at our Saturday sale and then have any number of services performed by the vet before leaving with their purchase.”

What sets you apart from other auction barns?
“One of the most unusual things about 101 Livestock Auction is that we accept debit and credit cards," stated John. “As far as I know, we are the only livestock auction barn in central Arkansas that accepts them.” John also stated that he thinks 101 Livestock Auction is one of a very few barns with a website; if not the only one in central Arkansas.
“When we do herd sales, we post pictures of the herd for potential buyers to view the cattle beforehand,” explained John.

What keeps 101 Livestock Auction steadily growing?
“We have a large set of buyers, we run on average 900 head of livestock through the barn every Saturday, beginning at noon, and we treat customers like they should be treated. We can’t control the market, but we can make sure the customers have a good sale experience."
