Eighteen Oklahoma State University undergraduate students were inducted as members of Phi Beta Kappa, one of the most distinguished academic honor societies in America, during a ceremony on May 9 at Old Central.

The chapter initiated Blaine Greteman as its first alumni member among the new members. Greteman, OSU’s only recipient of the Rhodes Scholarship, delivered an address titled “The American Scholar 2.0” at the ceremony.  Greteman, from Hydro, Okla., teaches at the University of Iowa.          

Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest academic honor society in the United States and was founded in 1776 at the College of William and Mary. There are 280 chapters at American colleges with 61 active alumni associations.
