COLUMBIA, Mo.– University of Missouri Extension is offering a three-week course on farm and small business estate planning at several locations in February.

The class will be held 6-9 p.m. on Feb. 3, Feb. 10 and Feb. 17 at four sites across Missouri. Interactive television will connect the different locations.

The locations are Schuyler R-1 High School in Queen City, the Brookfield Career Center, Southern Reynolds R-II in Ellington and Tuscumbia High School.

“We really want to encourage people to get involved in looking at their estate plan,” says Darla Campbell, MU Extension agribusiness specialist. “The class helps people evaluate where they are at and decide what would be best for their situation.”

MU Extension specialists will cover topics including how property is titled, like-kind exchanges, gift and estate taxes, and valuing farm or business assets. They will also go over available estate planning tools. During the third class a judge will discuss probate.

To cover meals and course materials, there is a fee of $75 for individuals or $100 for couples or business partners.

For more information or to register for the class, contact Darla Campbell at 660-457-3469 or [email protected].
