INGREDIENTS:

1 C flour

1 tsp baking powder

2 Tbsp sugar

1 egg

1/4 C milk

2 1/2 C finely chopped apples

1/2 tsp of cinnamon

DIRECTIONS:

Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar and cinnamon. Add egg, milk and apples. Drop batter with tablespoon in to oil and deep fry until are deep brown. Roll in powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar mixture. Notes: So that you don’t have to make the same mistakes I did: Oil temp should be around 350 degrees. If it is too hot, they will get brown on the outside, but not get done in the middle. If it is not hot enough, they will absorb too much oil. Don’t make them too big. I tried using a cookie scoop, but they were too thick and hard to get done in the middle. A tablespoon works well. I used frozen apples that I thawed overnight in the fridge. So, I used a quart of apples and doubled the dry ingredients above, no extra egg or milk.
