Campus Life to award outstanding leaders at recognition ceremony

The Oklahoma State University Department of Campus Life and Center for Ethical Leadership will honor student leaders, volunteers and advisers at the annual President’s Leadership Recognition Ceremony on Wednesday, April 23.

The President’s Leadership Recognition Ceremony will be held in the Noble Research Center at 5:30 p.m. Plaques, leadership medallions and service awards will be presented to outstanding groups and individuals during the ceremony.

“OSU has a great sense of community that produces several outstanding student leaders across campus,” said Campus Life Director Kent Sampson.

“Students who come to OSU tend to have a value for what leadership translates to and what volunteer service truly means,” explained Sampson. “That’s a part of our mission at OSU and our students really embody that.”

Individuals will be awarded for outstanding service or performance in the following categories: community service, doctoral student, faculty, master’s student, staff, student organization adviser and student organization leader.

Sampson said the ceremony is also important for reinforcing success through recognition and encouraging leaders by raising the bar.

“Honoring these leaders is all about thanking them for what they’ve done,” Sampson said. “We want them to know that President Hargis and the university value what they’re doing on this campus. It’s our way of telling them thank for you making a difference in the lives of many.”
